Is there a script file that is modifyable to allow for quicker cloaking/decloaking? Whenever a ship cloaks its shields drop for a full 3 seconds before it drops off sensors, I want to eliminate that gap... any tips?

actually, there is... sort of lol some years back, i think at BCU, i asked the same question; and someone (i forget who) wrote up a quick script that went into Autostart folder, where you could decresse the time it takes from when the cloak goes off to when the shields go up... however, that was a long time ago and unfortunatly i cannot find that script (ive had a number of installs since and new computer, i guess i lost it somewhere; i cannot find it anywhere) it would be awesome if someone could make it again tho lol i would suggest asking this question at BCS forums as well... edit: i guess you can set it in the console, but a script would be nicer... http://bc-central.com/forums/index.php/topic,3327.msg61573.html#msg61573i just am thinking that script that was made up a long time ago specific to this is long gone

Thanks for your reply!

Wonderful! But all he posted was an import App, where in the Autoload folder do I put this? Do I copy the script and put it into an existing py file or do I create a py file with this on it? What do I name the file so it works?

you have to be logged into BCS in order to download the script... and it would go into the QBAutostart folder...

Actually you don't have to... I duplicated the autoload ini_py file and renamed it cloak time. Inside the py file I deleted the text in notepad and pasted what Sovvie had to respond to your reply and it worked in game. Fantastic modification, I love it. Now cloaking is an actual tactical advantage as opposed to a exploitation.

I do encourage that everyone change fCloakTime and fShieldDelay to their preferences. This feels like cheating now if you ask me.

No way, the way the cloaking was before was cheating. Whenever a ship would cloak I would full spread my torpedoes and take the ship down before it fell off of my sensors. NOW the cloaking ships actually have an ADVANTAGE over non-cloaking ships! PS: Thanks for that script Sovvie, you rock man!

hehe if anything I'd slow the cloak down.... if this were to work in MP it would stop many of them evil cloak hoppers... playing a comp vs a player is totally different.

Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

actually if you do it correctly somthing similar WORKS in MP best if you have a freind, hosting a server with the same "modifications" so cloak time is endless long. i remember multiple cloakhoppers who have had gone VEEERY Mad after i shot them again and again xD was quite fun^^ of course you could have done it reversely aswell, so while cloaked on client you were slowly cloaking on your screen. then you take a defiant and most fun was when just useing phasers and when a shield is weak full spread xD those hoppers never came back into our server xD
